BIO 2006
How To Handle The Pain, the debut album from Helsinki, Finland-based 45 Degree Woman reeks of testosterone; in a good way. Man up attitude with a degree of vulnerability, etheric atmospheres exploding into firework-like choruses. The lyrics which could be described as blunt and laconic drive the point further home.
45 Degree Woman has always lived by the old principal "let your actions speak louder than words". No one embodies this better than Kari "Korak" Reini, the drummer and the man behind the concept of 45 Degree Woman. The Finlandia Ski Contest may not mean much to foreigners but imagine cross country skiing 60km in conditions where hell just froze over. Rough enough? Well, Mr. Reini did it with his last experiences with the sport dating as far back as the early 1980's. Combine that with numerous marathons, rowing contests and being the Captain of a hockey team that couldn't fit Dallas Stars-winger Jere Lehtinen in the starting line-up, gives you some idea what 45 Degree Woman is all about.
Other members of 45 Degree Woman complement Kari Reini's ideology perfectly. Vocalist Mikko Viman, bass player Pekka Laine, guitar players Hannu Laanterä and Iiro Tuomola and keyboard player Jani Weckström come from various but equally rugged backgrounds including power tools and exploding intestines.
All this tranfers quite naturally to the music of 45 Degree Woman. Barriers are broken and genres are disregarded with a unique combination of conventional metal elements and ground breaking programming.
The debut album How To Handle The Pain was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (Apocalyptica, HIM, Sentenced etc.). How To Handle The Pain will hit the stores on 22.3.2006 and it's released by Suomen Metalli Musiikki, the metal label of KHY Suomen Musiikki Oy. Debut single Never Needed will precede the album on 15.2.2006.
