THE NEW ALBUM

45 Degree Woman has finished recording and mixing their second album. The yet untitled album is to be released in spring - summer 2008. Two new songs are available at myspace.com/45dw

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

45 degree woman is a real person, living, breathing and native Spanish woman. The name has nothing to do with various sex positions nor it doesn't refer to the angle of male organ when erected. The whole truth about the name will remain forever shrouded in mystery, the circumstances when the name was selected for the band are too personal to reveal to the public. The band has made a blood oath to keep the story behind the name as a secret.

The person in question, 45 degree woman can be heard at live gigs as a pre-recorded announcer, but maybe someday she'll make a live appearance too. Behind the stage curtains, of course.

One more thing, the person in question has a good relationship with the band, and she's proud that the band has selected this mysterious name as a figurehead to the various things that 45 Degree Woman as a band is all about.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BAND

45 Degree Woman is not just a rock band from Helsinki, Finland. It is a family. Or La Familia as the band calls them selves and close friends who work with and within the band. The music is the most visible (or audible) element, but 45DW is much more than just hard riffs, haunting melodies, powerhouse choruses and lyrics inspired by real life events about the sorrows, loss of friends, life and how to handle the pain that comes with it. The band does everything within La Familia, share the happiness and sadness of everyday life, make music, websites, videos and time to time even take care of La Familia's member's change of residence. All the normal things that families do.

This all evolves to the music and stage presence of 45DW, which is can be described only with one word. Unique. Video projections, lightshows and charismatic performances, supported by members of La Familia including loyal technicians with only one goal in mind. Make the band sound and look as good as possible.

THE STORY BEHIND THE WAIT VIDEO

The Wait video

Years ago, when Kari Reini, the band's drummer and primus motor, saw a dream where bunch of wild animals chased him across some old city streets, the song The Wait was a soundtrack to that dream. This dream came back to his mind when he saw a documentary about the Fiesta of San Fermin, where men are chased by wild bulls in the narrow streets of Pamplona.

A trip to the Fiesta of San Fermin, was immediately accepted by La Familia after the band found out that the run is dedicated to bishop Fermin, who gained sainthood after a martyr death in the streets of Pamplona. The band would make their debut video from the song The Wait in Spain, at the Pamplona Bull Run.

The band decided to dedicate the run and the video to the close friend of La Familia, who was losing her battle against terminal cancer. All this closes a circle and the theme of album, How To Handle The Pain.

The video was obviously decided to made within La Familia. Band's technicians acted as cameramen, riggers and location managers and the band's webmaster was chosen to be the director. As the shooting in the middle of the running bulls is extremely difficult, the crew was equipped with pen and button cameras and every trick imaginable to get the shots needed for the video. Band members risked their lives while running the streets of Pamplona with the wild bulls and cameramen chose their locations every morning, hours before the actual run started at 8am. The video shoot went rather smoothly, with only minor injuries to the runners and crew. Most serious accident happened when the man whose dream was the starting point to this adventure fractured his hand while a bull decided to run over him at most dangerous spot of the run. But the pain was handled and The Wait was finally over after 30 hours of material from the five day trip to Pamplona was edited at the 45DW headquarters into the first music video ever filmed at the Fiesta of San Fermin.
